What does "enough" mean in a relationship? ›

Enough in a relationship means reaching the limit of enduring some things in your relationship. It could be that your partner does not know your love language and is unwilling to make changes. Psychologist David Clarke's book highlights a step-by-step plan to leave an abusive relationship.

In a good enough relationship, people have high expectations for how they're treated. They expect to be treated with kindness, love, affection, and respect. They do not tolerate emotional or physical abuse. They expect their partner to be loyal.

It can be done with grace, empathy, and respect. By communicating our boundaries calmly and assertively, we invite others to treat us with the same level of consideration and respect that we afford them. Embracing the notion that there's a time to say enough is enough doesn't diminish the value of kindness.
